Vlaeminck struggled with injuries after making her international debut against Pakistan in Kuala Lumpur in 2018. The 25-year-old got a taste of the big time when she made her first appearance at the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean later that year.

However, having played the majority of her domestic matches earlier in the year and having made a successful return to international action during her side’s tour of Bangladesh in March and April, Vlaeminck believes she is in a good position to spearhead Australia’s attack at the upcoming T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

In a column on the Cricket Australia website, Vlaeminck said she was excited to be taking part in the upcoming World Cup.

“This tour was one of my first experiences with the Australian team and I was just super excited to be going to the World Cup, but I probably underestimated how special it is and how rare it actually is,” Vlaeminck said, as quoted by the ICC.

She was also hoping to earn a place in the Australian squad for the Women’s T20 World Cup.

“It means so much more. The work that’s been put in behind the scenes and the hard hours of rehabilitation with that as a goal and to finally – touch wood – be on this team and hopefully contribute to the World Cup, it’s a really good feeling,” she added.

Vlaeminck added that she has changed a lot since suffering the injury. The 25-year-old added that she still has the same love for the game.

“I’ve changed a lot since then. I still have the same energy and love for the game, but I’m a little wiser in how I approach it now and just a little more mature,” she added.
