The death of a baby at a Christchurch home remains ‘unexplained’ as police investigation continues.

Emergency services were called to a house on Barrington St at 2.30pm yesterday following a 111 report of an unconscious child.

“Unfortunately, despite the medical assistance provided, the person died,” a police spokesman confirmed at 6:30 p.m.

Detectives arrived on the scene about half an hour after the first responders arrived and tried to determine exactly what had happened at the property.
