Australian bodybuilder Giuliano Pirone died after being found unconscious in a gym shower for 15 hours

Perth bodybuilder Giuliano Pirone has tragically died after spending two weeks on life support following a brain injury he suffered at a 24-hour gym. Pirone, 33, was training for a bodybuilding competition when he collapsed in a locked shower cubicle at a Wanneroo gym on August 20. He remained undiscovered for more than 15 hours until police found him after his mother reported him missing.

His mother, Daniela Pirone, expressed her grief to ABC Radio Perth, saying: “I will never look at the sun, the moon and the sky the same way again, the light that shone so brightly has left me.” Pirone was taken to Joondalup Hospital but never regained consciousness, and an MRI scan showed he had lost brain function. Doctors believe low blood sugar and a possible seizure may have contributed to his fainting.

Ms Pirone has called for tougher regulations on 24-hour gyms, suggesting a check-in system to monitor customer safety. Western Australian Police are reviewing CCTV footage and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
