Get Ready for Election Day: Voting Options

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – With Election Day approaching, it’s important to make sure you’re registered to vote. If you’re already registered, you have several options for voting.

Some citizens, like Michael Rivette, prefer to vote in person:

“Our precinct is right here in Town Creek. I live just a few miles away, so it’s really easy for me to come and vote. I think everyone should do it.”

Others, according to Electoral Commission Director Sara Lavere, are opting for early voting:

“All counties in North Carolina have early voting locations. Voters can go to any open early voting location in their county, regardless of where they live. This is different than voting on Election Day, where you must go to a designated polling place.”

You can also choose to vote by mail. To request an absentee ballot, visit the Board of Elections website for your county.

When you are ready to vote, you will need two witnesses, who must be at least 18 years old, to watch you cast your vote.

In addition, when casting your ballot, you must attach a copy of your photo ID.

Lavere explains what Brunswick County voters will receive in their mail-in ballot package:

“When you get your packet, it will have all the information about photo ID requirements. There’s a form where you can provide your name and the reason you can’t provide your ID. The packet has clear instructions on how to fill out that form.”

No matter how you decide to vote, remember to do so!

Don’t delay and make sure your ballot is sent in time for the Electoral Commission to receive it by November 5.

If you still need to register to vote, you can do so online at the DMV.

Remember, the voter registration deadline is October 11th.
