‘Serious concerns’ Charlie Curnow to miss rest of AFL season with ankle injury

Carlton’s disastrous month got even worse on Sunday afternoon when Charlie Curnow left the field with an ankle injury.

The star striker had been struggling with an injury for several weeks and his condition worsened following the defeat to Hawthorn.

Channel Nine journalist and SPL Regular Tom Morris reports that Curnow’s return for the final two weeks of home and away action is in doubt.

“It was a disastrous day for Carlton. They had 12 players on the injured list and now they have 17,” Morris said Breakfast SLEEP.

“It comes at exactly that time of year when you wish it were going the other way.

“Charlie Curnow is the most serious. There are serious concerns he won’t be able to return to home and away play this season, and potentially the finals if they can do it with that ankle.

“It’s the same ankle he struggled with last week.

“Michael Voss said he did what he had to do during the week, ran on Friday and then hurt himself again yesterday.

“We’ll wait for the scans to see how serious this case is.”

Carlton also lost Adam Saad and Jack Martin to hamstring injuries, Lachie Fogarty to a shoulder injury and Jordan Boyd to a stud injury.
