Paris had been pushing to host the championship in 2024, leaving Los Angeles in charge of 2028.

LA28, as they are called, will take place in the last two weeks of July – unlike the last Games, which were moved to August.

Have any new sports been added to the 2028 Olympics?

Since the 2020 Olympics, up to six optional sports have been permitted at the Summer Olympics, alongside the “main” events of athletics, swimming and gymnastics.

Squash and flag football, a variant of American football, will make their Olympic debut.

While it wouldn’t be the first time these sports have been involved, baseball, cricket and lacrosse have also been added to the line-up – the latter two for the first time since 1900 and 1908 respectively.

Who will host the Games after Los Angeles in 2028?

The Games schedule is already set until 2032.

Milan is set to host the next Winter Olympics in 2026, while Brisbane has been designated as the host city for the 2032 Summer Olympics.
